Cape Cod National Seashore - Explore the Wonders

Protecting 40 miles of unspoiled marshes, beaches and ponds, the Cape Cod National Seashore is an beautiful place to explore. Wildlife thrive here, from Fowler's toads to scrub oak forests. Explore a cranberry bog or ride the Cape Cod bike trails. Take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean and build a sand castle on the beach. Even during the cold and snowy winter months, the Park Service provides programs and activities for visitors, like the free Winter Film Series held in the Salt Pond Visitor Center, featuring the Ken Burns documentary National Parks: America's Best Idea.


Prices -

 There are day-use fees for vehicles ($15), motorcycles ($5), and pedestrians and cyclists ($3).

Hours -

 Extended hours during the summer. The Salt Pond Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Memorial Day through Oct. 31, Province Lands Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily

  • What is the Cape Cod Rail Trail?

    The Rail Trail is a scenic bike and walking path that runs 22 miles from South Dennis to South Wellfleet, passing through Harwich, Brewster, Orleans and Eastham. The trail is relatively flat and easy, although it does cross some busy intersections and includes some tunnels. There are lots of places to hop off your bicycle and hang out at the beach for a spell. The Trail is managed and owned by Massachusetts state, not the National Park Service.
  • Are bicycle helmets required?

    If you are 16 years old or younger, you are required to wear a bike helmet on Cape Cod National Seashore trails and roads. They are recommended for adults as well, but not required. Remember to ride on the right side, and obey all traffic laws.
